According to the FAO, 100 million tonnes of crops are lost each year in Africa, enough to feed 300 million people! The highest rate of loss is found in fruits and vegetables (40%), especially during peak harvests.
One of the main reasons is weak processing infrastructure. This situation poses a massive challenge to the food resilience and well-being of local populations, contributing to its exodus.
